MHC MARLINS AND CIS OF CARTERET COUNTY TEAM UP
Kids and baseball, could there be a better match? At the Fourth Annual Communities In Schools Gala for Children, the Morehead City Marlins announced their official partnership with CIS. Together the pair has already scheduled several events for the coming summer months. First, the players will be visiting with Elementary Public School children as a community service projects escorted by Communities In Schools Board of Directors on May 28th. The players will be talking about the importance of having goals, working hard, staying in school and always keeping your eye on the goal. This is the mission of Communities In Schools.
Then on August 2nd, the Morehead City Marlins will host Communities In School and their annual “Stuff the Bus” event that helps students and families with back to school supplies they need to begin a new school year armed with the tools students need to be successful. Baseball patrons will be asked to bring in school supplies and will receive a reduced rate on their ticket for the evening’s game. Staples of Morehead City, this year’s official “Stuff the Bus” sponsor will also be on hand to help with the event.
Communities In Schools is the country’s leading dropout prevention organization and is currently serving students in homework assistance, reading/math remediation and offers after school programming in 7 of Carteret County’s Public Schools.
