CIS
Founded
in the 1970s on the belief that "programs don't save
children, relationships do," Communities In Schools
(CIS) has become the nation's most effective and widely
respected community-based organization helping kids succeed
in school and prepare for life. CIS of Carteret County is
part of a National Network. The CIS National Office is located
in Alexandria, Virginia (www.cisnet.org)
and the CISNC State Office (www.cisnc.org)
is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. CISNC serves over
35 counties in North Carolina. CIS takes a comprehensive
approach in serving all of Carteret County with an array
of services and networking.

What is CIS?
CIS is a private, non-profit, community-based organization
that connects resources from public and private sectors
to students who need them.
What is CIS of NC?
Communities In Schools of North Carolina is part of the national CIS group,
the nation's leading dropout prevention organization, and the only
one proven to both decrease dropout rates and increase on-time graduation.
During the 2009-2010 school year, the CIS network in North Carolina
worked with 140,000 youth and their families across the state, empowering
more than 98 percent of its high school students to remain in school.
